Our purpose is to support, promote and develop the principles and provision of supported employment. We encourage all Supported Employment organisations to join us.
BASE aims to:
- Assist people with disabilities by encouraging the provision of support into employment.
- Endorse & promote quality standards in the delivery of Supported Employment.
- Liaise & negotiate with national and international government & non-government organisations to promote Supported Employment and the aims of the Association.
- Promote the training of supported employment personnel throughout the UK.
- Provide regular, detailed information including an advisory & development service to association members.
- Nurture & encourage the setting up of new supported employment services.

Founded in April 2010 by three parents who all have children on the spectrum, becoming a registered charity in 2013. We provide advice, practical support and services across Cheshire for all families whether you have a diagnosis or not.

Downs Syndrome Association

We offer helpline support services. We develop and deliver training for members, professionals and carers. WorkFit is a tailored service dedicated to bringing employers and job seekers who have Downs syndrome together.

Snow Angels

We are a befriending service for older people, supporting them to live independently in their own homes. We cover Cheshire West, Chester and Ellesmere Port
With help from our volunteers, we provide support with the following:
- Telephone befriending - weekly calls to check in, have a chat, check if there is anything the individual needs
- Essential shopping
- Prescription collections
- Dog Walking
- Attendance Allowance claims

Partnerships
Cheshire College South & West Supported Internship programme
Now approaching our second year of Supported Internships (September 2021), Cheshire College South & West are running programmes across Cheshire East and Cheshire West from our Crewe and Ellesmere Port Campuses. Job Coaches are used from Grow & Achieve Together for the interns in placements which are funded by DWP Access to Work.
The Supported Internship programme is designed to support young people aged 16-24 who have an EHCP (Educational Health Care Plan) in place. The course offers a day in College gaining a work related qualification alongside work placements with an Employer.

The Step16 programme is a new one year intervention programme designed to help young people with an EHC plan progress from their last year in school onto a college place, supported internship or paid work
The Big10forSEN is an initiative to bring together 10 large organisations in Cheshire East to support our SEN students in to paid employment. We want to work with local large employers to make the process of employing SEN young people less complex and a smoother transition for students from education to the workplace.

The Springboard Project is the newest offering from Springfield School, Crewe. It has been funded by Cheshire East Local Authority and is being run alongside Safe Opportunities. The DWP Access to Work fund is being used to supply Job Coaches from Grow and Achieve for the interns.
The Springboard Project aims to support young adults (16-19 year olds) with learning difficulties into the world of work. Our supported internship programme combines work experience in local businesses with taught sessions and independent learning activities at The Hub, our base.
Although this is a branch of Springfield School, places are not just for Springfield students, in fact we are looking forward to providing opportunities to students from other schools. See the ‘Interns’ section for more information.
