Travel Training
Our Travel Training service promotes inclusion and independence by providing young people/adults with disabilities the skills and confidence required to access and travel safely within their communities, using a variety of modes of transport.
For Service Users, Parents & Carers
What you can expect
You will be supported by an experienced travel trainer, matched to your needs, who will help you develop the skills you need to be able to travel confidently and safely. Travelling independently is a key life skill and as such will help you with your life choices. We will work with you at a pace you are comfortable with and help you to get to college, work and/or social activities
For Professionals
What you can expect
- Our experienced travel trainers use ‘Training in Systematic Instruction’TSI is a structured approach to teaching vocational and independent living skills. TSI has an emphasis on errorless learning and encourages decision-making by people with a learning disability enabling them to learn complex tasks (base-uk.org) , including access to our inhouse Occupational Therapist
- Progress is maximised and clearly evidenced through task/discrepancy analysis and independence tracking.
- Support is bespoke to individual needs, transport choice and locality
- Partnership collaboration with multi-agencies
- Professional reports detailing progress to agreed targets
