As a Warehouse Cleaner some of the things you may learn to do are:
- Cleaning, including doorknobs, light switches, keyboards, coffee printers and any other surfaces that see frequent human contact.
- Cleaning communal areas
- General housekeeping.
- Sweeping and tidying.
- Recycling rubbish in the correct manner.
- Pay attention to detail.
- Use cleaning materials safely.
- Store cleaning materials safely.
- Keep a record of cleaning tasks that you have done.
What do you need to think about to decide if a job like this is for you?
You will be walking or standing for most of the day. The job is physically active.
The job will include some moving and lifting.
You will need to carry out set tasks each day.
You may be asked to carry out one-off tasks, e.g if someone spills something.
You will need to write down the cleaning activities that you have done.
You will work with chemicals.
You will need to follow the rules of the workplace to keep yourself and others safe.

There will be lots of things for you to learn but you will have a job coach, who is someone to teach and support you to be able to do the job. You will learn the skills you need in a way that works for you.
Where is the cleaning internship?
The internship is based in Unit 4, Reads Road of Fenton Industrial Estate, Fenton, Stoke on Trent.
If you need support travelling, on your own, to the workplace, one of our travel coaches may be able to help you learn to travel safely and confidently.
What hours will you work?
We will talk to you, to decide how many hours you work, this may change throughout your time with us. You may be working up to 2/3 full days a week as you learn more about the job.
The other days of the week will be spent learning different skills, most of this time will be spent in a classroom environment with other young people.
You will never be asked to start before 8am or finish after 6pm.
The hours will all be from a Monday to Friday.
You will not be asked to come in on Saturdays or Sundays.
Holidays?
You will have at least 6 weeks off a year. This is the about the usual number of holidays for someone who does this job.
This is an internship and is unpaid.
