The Role
The Job Coach / Support Worker will work as part Grow and Achieve Together wider support team, assisting people with learning disabilities to develop employability skills (including travel training) to work towards independent or supported employment.
We support the employee by role modelling, mentoring and use of systematic instruction. We offer additional support within the community such as travel training.
We support the employer to understand the benefits of a diverse and inclusive workforce.
Our Job Coaches are passionate about inclusion, diversity and advocating the positive impact of employing people with disabilities.
Experience /Values
It would be desirable to have experience of supporting people with a learning disability, this can be on a personal or professional level. We are a values’ based employer and therefore will offer full training for the right applicants, regardless of qualifications / experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and monitor individual risk assessments
- Communicate with clients to understand their goals and ambitions
- Assist clients to discover and overcome their personal barriers and set achievable goals
- Assess the strengths of individuals and reinforce positive behaviours
- Guide clients in learning to complete job tasks
- Help in the development of motivation and skills
- Assist people in developing social and life skills
- Monitor and evaluate progress of clients
- Keep records and documentation and prepare appropriate reports / attend meetings
- Develop and deliver bespoke travel training packages, including the use of public transport.
Requirements.
- Experience in developing and implementing risk assessments is preferred
- Adherence to regulations, policies, and procedures
- Working knowledge of MS Office
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Respect to diversity and equality
- Ability to inspire and motivate
- Clean driving license
- Business Insurance
- Own transport
